Gas Leak Inside at Maple Inn
By Honey Brook Fire Company #1
April 22, 2015
At 0953 hours, Station 33 (Honey Brook) and Ambulance 189 (Elverson-Honey Brook) was alerted to the Maple Inn on Horseshoe Pike for a report of natural gas inside. Engine 33-1 responded and was advised that PECO was on location and had a confirmed odor of natural gas and a 6% gas reading on their combustible gas indicator. Captain 33A (Messner) established Horseshoe Pike Command and requested Rescue 33 & Engine 33-5 to respond.
PP&L disabled the power to the Honey Brook area until a response crew could arrive to remove any additional ignitions hazards. Once the gas supply was isolated crews went in service with ventilation to remove the gas present in the building.
