Mid-Morning Extrication

At 0947 hours, Station 33 (Honey Brook), Ambulance 189 (Elverson-HB EMS) and Medic 93 (Brandywine Hosp. Paramedics) were dispatched to the intersection of Route 10 and Walnut Road in Honey Brook Township for an automobile accident with entrapment. Chief 33 (Klinger) responded and was advised by Chester County Fire Board of a two vehicle accident with a subject trapped in gold sedan off the roadway.
Rescue 33 (A. King) and Ambulance 189-1 arrived at 0954 hours confirming the report. Crews immediately began stabilizing the vehicle using cribbing and utilized the Holmatro Hydraulic Rescue Systems to remove the drivers side door of the vehicle. Once done fire crews assisted the EMS crew with removing the patient from the vehicle and began cleaning up. Total time from the rescues arrival to the patient being removed was seven minutes.
The patient was transported to a local hospital for injuries, units cleared the scene at 1022 hours.
