Training Night
By Past Fire Chief Allen Beiler
October 1, 2019
On Monday evening HBFC members trained at the building on the carnival grounds.
Crews from Engine 33-1 performed “First due Engine Company Ops” including catching a hydrant and laying in 5” supply hose securing their own water supply.
Engine crews performed Primary search and located and removed a fire victim. The inside crew then simulated a “Mayday” meaning a firefighter went down inside the fire building.
While the engine crew was laying in, Rescue 33 crew arrived and set up a RIT(Rapid Intervention Team) on side Delta. This specialized team waits on the outside of the fire building, and springs into action only when someone inside encounters trouble insidesuch as floor or wall collapse, runs out of or low on breathing air. In last nights simulation, a FF mayday was issued and the RIT team entered, located, and removed the victim.
