September 14, 2023

Just After midnight on September 14th, Engine 33-5 was dispatched to relocate to Station 27, while they operated at a working building fire on Third St. in Oxford Borough. While responding, Command requested the 4th-alarm assignment, which re-directed Engine 33-5 to the scene. Upon arrival, Command requested that the next due engine lay in from the hydrant at 2nd St. and Lancaster Pike. Engine 33-5 took the assignment and laid 1,500' of 5" LDH from the hydrant to the scene. After establishing their own water source, the crew of Engine 33-5 stretched several attack lines and began assisting with interior fire suppression and "opening up" in several buildings throughout the early morning hours.

Later that morning, Engine 33-5 returned to the scene to assist with shuttling water for an extensive period of time as the operation transitioned to a mobile water supply. It was a long day for all involved, Honey Brook personnel operated at the incident for nearly 24 hours. We'd like to thank the White Horse Fire Company and Avondale Fire Company for their help with getting our apparatus back in service.

Ultimately, the historic blaze would reach 5-alarms and would unfortunately displace nearly 100 residents. Our thoughts are with those affected and the entire Oxford community.
