Working House Fire Box 3307
By HBFC
December 9, 2024
At 09:35 on Monday morning, Station 33 along with automatic aid were dispatched to the 900 block of Pleasant View Road in Honey Brook Township for a reported house fire. Deputy 33 responded and was advised of fire coming for the walls near the chimney with evacuation in progress. Ambulance 1891 arrived and reported smoke showing from the home just as 33-1 arrived and assumed the first due engine assignment, stretching one bumper line to the front door. Captain 33-B conducted a 360' and reported a 3-story farmhouse with an active fire in the chimney along with extension into the walls on all three divisions and assumed command until the arrival of Deputy 33. Rescue 33 arrived as the first due special, sending it's crew to the roof followed by Engine 33-5 as the second due engine.
Interior crews were met with a smoke condition on all three floors, but no visible fire. 33-1's crew began to open up and knock down fire between divisions one and two, while command struck the Working Fire Dispatch, bringing additional resources to the scene. Ladder 69 arrived and positioned on the (D) side and assisted Rescue 33's crew with roof operations. The fire was eventually put under control at 10:05 following some extensive overhaul due to the older style construction of the home. This was the 10th, first due working fire of the year for the HBFC, Deputy 33 held the Pleasant View Command.
We'd like to thank our mutual aid partners for their help with this incident, and Lancaster Station 3 (Martindale) for covering our local while we worked this fire.
This fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshall's Office.
