HBFC Handles Four Runs, Two Fires on Wednesday
By HBFC
January 23, 2025
On what was expected to be one of the coldest days of the year, the Honey Brook Fire Company stayed busy, responding to four calls for service. At 05:32 on Wednesday morning, Station 33 was due for the Engine and Rescue assisting Lancaster Station 49 (White Horse Fire Company) for a reported mobile home on the 800 block of Narvon Road in Salisbury Township. First arriving units had fire on the exterior that extended into the home. Crews from E33-1 and R33 assisted with opening up, checking for extension, and overhaul. Honey Brook units operated for roughly 1.5 hours before being released.
At 08:32 Engine 33-5 traveled to Station 39 (West Bradford Fire Company) and stood by while they operated at a working house fire. E33-5 returned to quarters roughly four hours later. While Engine 33-5 was out of the local, Engine 33-1 responded to the 100 block of North Bonsall School Road in West Caln assisting Station 35 (Wagontown) on a fire alarm.
Later that evening at 18:42 hours, Fire Box 3351 was struck for a reported building fire at Bakery Feeds, in Honey Brook Township. Chief 33 and Engine 33-1 arrived to confirm fire in the exterior ductwork. Because the Westbrook Drive entrance was obstructed, E33-1 laid nearly 1000’ of LDH from a nearby hydrant on Poplar Road, which was subsequently picked up by E33-5. Lancaster Truck 39 setup and worked to gain access to the elevated ductwork. Crews battled the frigid cold as outside temperatures were roughly eight degrees. Fortunately the fire was held to its place of origin with little extension. The incident was placed under control at 20:27 hours, with all crews clearing the scene a short time later. This was the second fire of the day for the Honey Brook Volunteers, Chief 33 held the Westbrook Drive Command.
We’d like to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance, and EBFC Engine 49-2 for covering our local while we operated at this incident.
