April 3, 2025

At 14:20 hours on Saturday, the Honey Brook Fire Company was dispatched to Locust Lane in Honey Brook Township to assist the police with a search detail. Pennsylvania State Police were advised of a missing child had been who had not been seen in several hours. All three Chiefs, Rescue 33, Engine 33-1, and Utility-33 made the initial response. Assistant 33 established the command post, staged all resources, and issued assignments. Crews deployed their resources and worked in conjunction with PSPE, their air unit, and patrol cars to broaden the search area. As the incident progressed, Command requested the drone services from DRS77, as well as two UTV units to the scene. Chester County DES transmitted a reverse 911 to local residents, and established an "inner-ops" channel which allowed all recourses to communicate directly. Fortunately, the PSPE air unit was able to locate the missing child within the search area, and guided ground resources to his location. The child was evaluated by EMS and returned safely to his family.

While conducting the search operation, Station 33 was alerted to King Road in the Township for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 33-1 was released from the search and made the response. On arrival, E33-1 found two vehicles going with some brush involved, and requested the next due tanker. Engine 33-5 and Brush 33 responded, as did Lancaster Tanker 49. Crews extinguished the fire and the incident was placed under control. After clearing the scene, all 33 units responded back to assist with the search detail.

The Honey Brook Fire Company would like to thank all local and state agencies who worked collectively in a cohesive manner to achieve this positive outcome in a short period of time.
