HBFC Places New Utility Truck In-Service

By Assistant Chief Ryan Plank
May 19, 2026

The Honey Brook Fire Co. # 1 is pleased to announce that we’ve officially placed Utility 33-1 in-service. This truck is a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, with a 6.6L V8, Z-71 off road package, and an 8' Dura-Mag custom utility body. Replacing Utility 33, a 2010 Ford F250, Utility 33-1 will respond first-out on all medical emergency calls and water rescue's, and is equipped to assist at accident scenes, brush fires, public service calls, and much more.

This replacement process started over a year ago with the help and partnership of Honey Brook Township, who continues to support emergency services and stands behind apparatus and equipment modernization initiatives such as this. With that said, the apparatus committee opted to design an apparatus with cross functional capabilities, with it's primary responsibilities being centered around water rescues, the increasing number of medical calls we respond to annually, and a general support piece. The build process started in November of 2025, following the delivery from General Motors and Frederick Chevrolet. The HBFC selected a Dura-Mag, all-aluminum body from Baldwin Truck, a local leader in the industry with a reputation for quality. Baldwin fabricated a fully transverse compartment behind the cab, handled all mounting and electrical work, and completed the paint work as well. Once the body work was completed, it headed to 10-8 Emergency vehicle services, where it would recieve the upfitting work as well as the graphics, which was completed by Tam-Arte Design. Tool mounting was done in-house, with some help from our friends at Metalum to wrap up and complete the build.

Utility 33-1 is equipped with:

(2) Water rescue PFD's
(2) Water rescue throw bags
