Working Barn Fire in Honey Brook Township
By HBFC
January 5, 2024
At 18:19 on Thursday, the Honey Brook Fire Company along with mutual aid was dispatched to the intersection of Park Rd. and Cambridge Rd. in Honey Brook Township for a reported house fire. Chief 33 was the first to arrive and found a well-advanced barn fire on the 700 block of Park Rd. Chief 33 established command, and requested the working fire dispatch, and three additional tankers. Engine 33-1 arrived as the first due engine, less than six minutes after dispatch, and immediately initiated fire attack, leading off with three handlines.
Engine 33-5 arrived as the second due engine, establishing an initial water source by laying 700' of LDH from the hydrant on Augusta Dr. to the fire scene. Ladder 49 arrived as the first due truck and utilized their master stream initially in a "storefront" position before moving overhead. Ultimately, crews were able to get ahead of the fire, cutting it off at the midpoint and preventing any further spread to the rest of the barn. Crews operated for nearly 7 hours in the sub-freezing temperatures before clearing the scene. This was the third working fire this week for the Honey Brook Volunteers, 30 of whom responded to this fire.
The Honey Brook Fire Company would like to send a special thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance during this incident. We'd also like to thank the Christiana Fire Company (L52) for covering our local while we operated at this fire, and North Penn Goodwill Services for providing hot food and refreshments throughout the night.
The cause of this fire is currently under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Fire Marshalls Office.
